A trail mix is full of healthy fats from nuts and seeds, sweetness from dried fruit and heartiness from the grains. It is an easy and satisfying snack that can even double up as an on the go breakfast.

There are so many variations to a trail mix, that one might become overwhelmed when wanting to build their own trail mix. An easy formula to remember when wanting to create your own trail mix is:

1 Part healthy fats and protein (nuts or/and seeds)

Cashew nuts

Pumpkin seeds

Sunflower seeds

1 Part healthy sweetness (dried fruits or/and sweets)

Dried apricots

Dried strawberries

Dark chocolate

Yoghurt drops

2 Parts healthy carbohydrates (grains)

Corn flakes

Air pop rice

Use this formula for the ultimate trail mix calculation and create your own delicious combinations. If calculating is too much for you right now, I have taken the liberty to do the calculating for you. I have created 3 yummy trail mix recipes, that I hope you will enjoy.
