Muesli is an easy, delicious and healthy start to the day. Filled with nutty and fruity flavours, this cold breakfast can be served with milk or yoghurt.
Muesli is nutritious and is also wonderful for weight loss. You can use any nuts, dried fruit or seeds when making muesli. This is a wonderful recipe to make in bulk, for a quick breakfast for during the week.
5 ingredient muesli
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
3 cup/ 750ml rolled oats
½ cup/ 125ml mixed seeds
½ cup/ 125ml raisins or any dried fruit
1/3 cup/ 80ml chia seeds
½ cup/ 125ml mixed nuts
Pinch of salt
1. In a large non-stick pan toast oats and mixed seeds for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Keep a close eye on the oats and seeds as it can burn very easily. Once toasted, remove from the heat and allow to cool.
2. To the cooled oats and seeds add in the rest of the ingredients. Store in a glass jar for up to 3 weeks.
· Scoop out ½ cup/ 125ml of muesli and add it to a glass jar or bowl, add in sweetener of choice and 1 cup of milk. Let this set for a couple of hours to allow the oats and chia seeds to soak up the liquid. Add in fresh fruit and enjoy.
· Scoop out ½ cup/ 125ml of muesli and it to a glass jar or bowl, add in sweetener of choice and ¾ cup/ 180ml yogurt. Add in fresh fruit and enjoy.
